Why Ask?

Some may wonder why we bother to ask our Klahre House students   what they think of our program. For many years we weren’t very vigilant in asking,  relying instead on the progress we saw we were making.

Two years ago, however, we formed a Quality Assurance and Program Improvement Committee. This is a mouthful to say, but it’s essential to have.

Every quarter, our Treatment Services program now asks each of our Klahre House students to fill out a Client Satisfaction Survey with 37 questions.  For a year, we have been collecting data on how they feel about our program.  Questions range from how they enjoy the food, to if they feel they are being treated fairly and respectfully, to whether they feel they are involved in their own treatment and education, to how they feel about themselves and their progress.  I am happy to report that every quarter, between 77-90% of them rate the overall program “very good” to “excellent” on a five-point scale.

This means so much to us because it demonstrates that our kids are getting something positive out of our program.  More importantly, for those questions that get ratings of “satisfactory” to “poor”, we can work to make them better.  And that’s why we ask.
